Our Award Winning Costa Cruise Ship Accident Lawyers Have Decades of Experience Handling Cruise Line Injury Claims
Costa Cruises is a British American cruise line that is based in Genoa, Italy, and is considered an Italian cruise line. Costa was originally founded in 1854 to operate cargo ships to carry olive oils and textiles to Liguria from Sardinia. However, in 1947, passenger services began to provide regular transport between Italy and America. Passenger services soon became the full-time purpose of Costa ships and Costa was eventually acquired in 2000 by Carnival Corporation. Costa is now one of 10 brands that are operated by Carnival.
Unfortunately, Costa cruises have been fraught with problems. Victims, including passengers and crew, should consult with a maritime lawyer if they sustain harm aboard any Costa cruise.

Our Cruise Ship Lawyers Handled the Costa Concordia Class Action
Unfortunately, numerous problems have occurred aboard many of these ships, including when the Costa Deliziosa lost power. The most devastating incident to occur on a Costa ship in recent years, however, was when the Costa Concordia vessel ran aground of the coast. On January 13, 2012, the Costa Concordia cruise ship hit a rock as it sailed too close to the Italian shoreline. After striking a large rock, the Concordia partially sunk due to a large gash in the hull of the vessel. The 114,000-ton ship tilted to the side and began to sink off the coast of Tuscany with 3,000 passengers and 1,000 crew members on board.
There were 32 deaths and the captain of the Costa Concordia has been indicted on charges of manslaughter and abandoning the ship. The law firm of Lipcon, Margulies & Winkleman, P.A. successfully represented dozens of those persons, both passengers and crew members, who were injured aboard the ill-fated Costa Concordia.
These claims were governed in large measure by the wording of the passenger ticket, which usually includes a requirement of notice of claim within a short period of time, the filing of a lawsuit within a short period of time, and the location where the lawsuit must be brought. We found that victims of the sinking of the Costa vessel had legal claims that could be brought against the vessel operator.
While the sinking of the Costa Concordia is an unusual situation, problems aboard Costa ships are common. Victims who sustain harm are encouraged to seek help from Lipcon, Margulies & Winkleman, P.A.

Costa Cruises has made headlines for the death of crew members and for involvement in maritime accidents. Injured cruise passengers have had to be airlifted to hospitals. All of these undesirable outcomes occurred. These serious incidents are all in addition to the Concordia tragedy.
